2nd Annual Dom Diddy Classic Golf Tournament and Auction to be held Monday, June 27, 2016 at Tokatee Golf Club

On Monday, June 27, 2016 the 2nd Annual Dom Diddy Classic Golf Tournament and Auction will be held at Tokatee Golf Club. For the second year in a row, golfers and supporters will gather to raise money for the Dominic Fouts Memorial Cancer Fund. Following the success of the inaugural event, which raised more than $30,000 in net proceeds, this year’s tournament is expected to not only raise more money for the charity but also to surpass the overall experience all participants had the first year.

“Last year we had an unbelievable group of players, sponsors, and guests. Our field was sold out and we ran a waiting list for cancellations. I feel so grateful for the supportive community that is surrounding our organization,” said tournament director Suzanne Krueger. Suzanne is also the Executive Director for the Dominic Fouts Memorial Cancer Fund.

This year top sponsors include Tanner Goods, West Coast Paper Solutions, Bend Modern, Dan and Jeri Fouts and Rio Vista Chevrolet. Prizes and demo tent provided by Nike Golf.

The event will begin with a shotgun start at 12pm, followed by a BBQ dinner featuring awards, a live and silent auction and guest speakers.

Tokatee Golf Club, located in Blue River, Oregon, is set in the beautiful McKenzie River Valley with scenic views of the Three Sisters Mountains.  It is consistently rated among the “Best Courses in Oregon” by Golf Digest.

The Dominic Fouts Memorial Cancer Fund is a 501(c)3 public charitable organization founded by Suzanne Fouts Krueger in honor of her brother Dominic Fouts, who passed away in 2012 at the age of 34 after a three year battle with stage four colon cancer. It grants money to support programs that assist with out of pocket costs associate with cancer treatment. One of the programs that has benefitted is the Providence Cancer Center.

“Through the Dom Diddy Classic, Nick’s family and friends have turned his tragic and untimely loss into hope for the future.  You can really feel that energy throughout the tournament.  We are definitely returning participants --  cancer patients and their families depend on it! - Shari Scales, Providence Cancer Center

Many of the same sponsors and participants are returning for this upcoming tournament.

“I really enjoyed the 2015 Dom Diddy Classic.  Over the years I have had the opportunity to play in many golf tournaments, including two rounds with Tiger Woods at the Phoenix Open. I'd have to say that I enjoyed the Dom Diddy more than any of these other events. The casual atmosphere, genuinely helpful volunteers, good food and an exiting auction made my day!” - Bill Buehler

Auction items for this year include a vacation package to Sunriver Resort that includes golf for four, Sun Country Tours river rafting trip, VIP tickets to Disney on Ice, NFL Hall of Fame items, Bill Walton memorabilia package, Super Bowl 50 commemorative gear, University of Oregon golf bag, and much more.

The Dom Diddy Classic is currently full. A wait list is in affect and can be reached at events@domfoutsfund.org.

2015 Dom Diddy Classic held at Tokatee Golf Club

On June 22, 2015, the beautiful Tokatee Golf Club was host to the 1st Annual Dom Diddy Classic golf tournament and auction fundraiser. The Dom Diddy Classic benefits the Dominic Fouts Memorial Cancer Fund (DFMCF), and netted $31, 254.16 in funds raised.

The silent auction began online months prior to the event day, and participants were then able to make their bids before golfing, and then again after play at the BBQ reception. A surprise live auction took place and included signed footballs by NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts. Tickets to the Oregon/Oregon State Football Civil War game, golf packages at a number of premier golf venues in Oregon and California, NFL and MLB game tickets, a ski mountain season pass, and specialty item packages, as well as works of art, were among the auction items generously donated to the event.

The sold out field of golfers and BBQ reception attendees reported this event to be among their favorites and look forward to returning in years to come.

Among the attendees were representatives from St. Charles Cancer Center in Bend OR, Dr. Bob Raish from the Knight Cancer Center and Mrs Ann Raish, who serves as the VP of Oncology Services at OHSU Knight Cancer Center, and Dr. Walter Urba and Dr. Loch Chandler of Portland Providence Cancer Center. The prestigious physicians spoke to the crowd; focusing on their patient assistance services programs, the outlook on cancer care and survivorship, and how much the need for greater quality of life care with integrative treatment protocols is helping patients. 100% of the funds their Patient Support Services Program and Charity Funds receive goes to the patients directly, none to their administrative costs.

The Dominic Fouts Memorial Cancer Fund mission is to raise funds for programs that alleviate the financial burden of cancer care. Their stance is that cancer is stressful enough on patients and their families as they navigate treatment options, while keeping up on their personal finances. Survival is the only thing they need to focus on; the costs associated with treatment should not be a barrier in getting that care.

The 2nd Annual Dom Diddy Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 27, 2016 at Tokatee Golf Club. Registration will begin late fall/early winter 2015. To put your email on the list for information on this and other DFMCF news, enter your email address on the DFMCF home page.

Dom Diddy Classic to Benefit the Dominic Fouts Memorial Cancer Fund

The First Annual Dom Diddy Classic will take place on Monday, June 22 at Tokatee Golf Club, with proceeds from the event benefiting the Dominic Fouts Memorial Cancer Fund (DFMCF).  The golf tournament will feature a shotgun scramble at 1 pm, followed by a BBQ reception and silent auction.

The DFMCF is a nonprofit organization founded by Suzanne Fouts Krueger in honor of her brother, long-time Sisters resident Dominic Fouts, who passed away in 2012 at the age of 34 after a three year battle with stage four colon cancer.

Dominic was an outstanding student-athlete at Sisters High School, who excelled both in the classroom and in sports including football, basketball and track.  In 1996, he was named Athlete of the Year at Sisters High School along with earning awards as Student of the Year in both Math and Science.  He later became a coach and middle school science teacher in the Seattle area.

Proceeds from the tournament will support cancer patients and families, through funding the DFMCF targets to programs such as the Knight Cancer Institute at OHSU and the Providence Cancer Center, both places where Dominic received treatment.

“We want to honor Nick – occasionally referred to as Dom Diddy by some friends - and help raise money to support cancer fighters like him,” said Krueger.  “Having the Dom Diddy Classic at Tokatee is meaningful because he especially enjoyed playing there with our Dad and many of Dad’s old college buddies.”

Nestled in the beautiful McKenzie River Valley with views of the Three Sisters Mountains, Tokatee Golf Club offers an incredible mix of postcard vistas and championship golf.  Designed by renowned architect Ted Robinson, it is consistently ranked in "Best Courses in Oregon" by Golf Digest.

The Dom Diddy Classic has spots available for individual golfers, foursomes and sponsors.  The tournament will feature Hole in One contests with a brand new fully loaded Chevrolet Colorado as the top prize, as well as prized donated from Nike Golf to the Long Drive, Closest to Pin, and Beat the Pro contests. The Silent Auction is taking bids online and will finish up with bids being accepted at the BBQ reception following play, and include donated items from Deschutes Brewery, Hoodoo Ski Area, Nike Golf, Black Butte Ranch, and McKenzie Riverside Cottages, among others.

Sponsors include: Dan and Jeri Fouts, West Coast Paper Solutions, Tanner Goods, Trailhead Design & Build, LLC, Providence Cancer Center, Tom Rheuben Dentistry, and the Ela Family. Also providing support is Tokatee Golf Club, Girly Locker Room, and Rio Vista Chevrolet.
